Perplex Cities is the fourth EP by American metal singer Serj Tankian, released digitally on 21 October 2022.[1] by Alchemy Recordings and BMG.
Background
One month before the release of the EP on music streaming platforms, all 5 tracks were made available through free augmented reality experiences featuring Tankian presenting the tracks[1][2]
Reception
Blabbermouth said the EP is "anything but a heavy release" musically, but that it is "heavy on an emotional level". While they remark that the EP has "many interesting facets, twists and turns", they find that "there isn't anything notably exceptional about [the EP]"[3]. Mike DeWald of Riff Magazine gave the EP an 8/10 grade, stating the EP is "not System of a Down", but that "the lyrical messages don’t lose any weight"[4].
