Peter Adjaye (born May 1970) is a contemporary conceptual sound artist, composer, DJ-producer and musician. He has worked with his brother, the award winning architect, Sir David Adjaye OBE on numerous projects including 'Dialogues' on MusicforArchitecture Records in association with The Vinyl Factory Records.,[1] He was appointed Ambassador for the Access to Arts[2] programme by BNP Paribas in 2019.
In 1991 he started the outfit R.P.M,[3] releasing a string of singles on the Mo' Wax[4]imprint. R.P.M was the group, for which the genre Trip hop was first attributed to in Mixmag by music journalist Andy Pemberton in June 1994. They toured Europe alongside James Lavelle, DJ Shadow and DJ Krush. In 1995 Peter formed Runaways UK, releasing two albums with cover artwork on the second album provided by Chris Ofili, and also co-founded Ultimate Dilemma Records (Shapiro, Peter (1999). Peter co-founded Afri-Kokoa[5] in 2005, a platform for the music of the diaspora. Peter performs DJ sets for art and design institutions world-wide.[6]

October 2003, 'The Asymmetric Chamber', the Cube Gallery, Manchester - Soundscapes titled 'Echoes' and 'Epilogue' for the immersive architectural installation for Adjaye Associates.[7]
June 2005, Nobel Prize, the Nobel Institute in Oslo, Norway, marking the 100th winner of the Nobel Prize Wangari Maathai. Interactive sound composition for David's main winners gallery known as the Nobel Field.[8]
January 2006, Whitechapel Gallery London, exhibition 'Making Public Buildings' - Three composition pieces for the exhibition films Venice Biennale, Whitechapel IDEA Store and Stephen Lawrence Centre.[9]
January 2007, Norman Foster's Albion Gallery, London, January 2015, Haus Der Kunst, Munich, September 2015, The Art Institute of Chicago, 'Horizon' Pavilion - soundscape installation 'Footprints in three suites'. The soundscape was then presented as an audio visual installation at the 1:54 contemporary African Art Fair in Somerset House, London in 2016.[10]

March 2020, Barbican Centre, The Curve Gallery - A commissioned immersive soundscape for exhibition by Nigerian-American artist Toyin Ojih Odutola, 'A Countervailing Theory'.[25]
September 2020, Queen's House, Greenwich -A new sound installation by composer Peter Adjaye comes to the Queen’s Presence Chamber in the Queen’s House Art Gallery. Created in response to The Armada Portrait, the work traces the painting’s legacies of empire and the roots of the transatlantic slave trade.[26]
Music for Architecture[edit]
Music for Architecture is a concept by Peter Adjaye about the relationship between music and architecture.
Dialogues[27] is a limited edition vinyl album about the architectural and sound collaborations between music Peter and his brother, the award winning architect Sir David Adjaye OBE.[28] Each track corresponds to a piece of architectural work by David.[29]

The limited edition Album 'Dialogues', was released in July 2016, on MusicforArchitecture records, in association with The Vinyl Factory[30], it is presented as a double 180gm vinyl, 15 page booklet and featuring a hand drawn image of a sound journey by David Adjaye.
