Pew News is an online News service hosted by Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg which is published on the Internet video sharing service Youtube. The first episode was released on February 3, 2018. The episode was received well by the general public, receiving 11,836,235 views and 621,000 likes.[2] The first episode was extremely well received by critics, with the show being labelled "the internet's favourite show", "the most legitimate news source on the internet" and "the most trustworthy news site on the planet". [3] The show has been considered by some as a follow up to PewDiePie's DramaScoops news series.

The show can be seen as a parody of the CNN news network, as well as DramaAlert and other online based news sources. Whilst the show is primarily for comedy purposes, the news anchors like Gloria Borger who frequent the show often tackle serious issues in the modern world. In episodes the anchors tackle the three or four issues they find most pressing.

Notable Figures[edit]

Although the show is published on the PewDiePie channel, Kjellberg has only hosted the show in its first episode. The show's notability has attracted prominent figures such as Brooke Baldwin, Guillermo Arduino, Anders Coopers, Wolf Blitzner, Don Lemon, former First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama, as well as repeated appearances by Gloria Borger. Borger has subsequently received much acclaim for presenting the show. The News Anchor has made a guest cameo at the end of an episode of LWIAY on May 15, 2018.[4] Rumours have subsequently spread that Borger will, in fact, make an appearance on PewDiePie's other show 'Meme review'. The shows' fan base has appealed to the show's management for this to occur via the LWIAY subreddit.[5]

PewDiePie has been accused of playing the role of all characters and News Anchors. Such accusations have been officially denied, public opinion is swaying to the belief that PewDiePie is indeed telling the truth. Controversy in this area has caused a split in the fanbase of the bigger News Anchors like Gloria Borger.

Topics and Reoccurring Themes[edit]

The show is highly respected amongst the news community for its investigative journalism into issues such as the Logan Paul controversy, Ad-pocalypse, PewDiePie himself and the failings of other news and media outlets, such as WSJ and Polygon.

Editing[edit]

The program is renowned for its editing by Brad 1, Brad 2 and Sive. The show commonly starts with the opening sequence, that mimicks CNN. This followed by the host shooting lasers from their fingers and repeatedly saying "Pew". The utilisation of the "hmmm" swirl effect has been seen in episodes.
