Peyman Niksar (Persian: پیمان نیکسار ; born 31 July 1980) is a British-Iranian songwriter, music producer, composer and singer, most closely associated with the electronic, trip hop, funk, lounge, deep house, world music, fusion and pop rock genre.[1]

Biography[edit]

Early years[edit]

Born in Tehran, Iran. Niksar discovered his interest in music around the age of ten when he started learning Tonbak, and he started learning guitar with a nylon string classical guitar at the age of Thirteen. Then, his interest in rock music led him towards learning electric guitar and rock music production with Kaveh Yaghmaei.

Early band[edit]

In 2000, Niksar joined a Fusion band in Iran called Mehrabanan that covered some traditional Iranian songs in fusion genre. His role in the band was playing guitar and writing chord progressions for the songs. He experienced his first presence on stage as a player with this band in a few concerts in Tehran. Later in 2001, the nineteen-years-old Niksar gave a pop-rock concert with his own band in Farabi Hall in Tehran which was his first live experience as a singer.

Moving to the UK[edit]

Niksar moved to the United Kingdom and settled in London in 2010 and then he started working on new music production projects.

Career[edit]

Basset Lounge[edit]

Basset Lounge project is the latest musical activity of Niksar which he has been working on since 2020. Basset Lounge consists of single tracks released individually which is the formal beginning of Niksar's singing in English. This project focuses on lounge music mostly fusion deep house and funky world music genre.

Shere Nafasgir (Breathtaking Poem)[edit]

In 2003, Niksar released his first album Shere Nafasgir (Breathtaking Poem), the album is a pop-rock album in Persian language in cooperation with Kaveh Yaghmaei. Yaghmaei had an important role in the album as he wrote most of the songs and arranged the whole album's songs.[2]

Boht[edit]

In 2010 Niksar released his second album Boht. The album is a trip hop/pop album in Persian language and he was the songwriter, music producer and singer of the album.[3] [4] [5]

Oonvare Abra[edit]

In 2018 Niksar released his latest album Oonvare Abra which is a kind of new funk/soul mixed with his own style.

Film soundtracks[edit]

Between 2004 and 2009, Niksar cooperated with couple of movie directors as composer.[6] In 2004, he wrote a soundtrack for a short movie called Chashme Ayeneh directed by Souri Ahmadloo. Then he wrote two other soundtracks for two video arts called Incomplete Moon in 2008[7] [8]and Impossible Duality in 2009[9] both directed by Pouria Jahanshad.
