Philipp Budeikin (born 1995 in Russia),[1][2] is a Russian video game programmer and cyberterrorist who is known for making suicide-game Blue Whale,[3][4]which is thought to be the suicide game spreading in several countries.[5][6][7][8]

Game's Introduction[edit]

In the game, the player is assigned to perform 50 tasks by an administrator within the trial of 50 days and last task being suicide.[9]They are also encouraged to give photos to administrator after completion.[10][11]

The game has caused suicides[12][13][14] in many countries with more than 130 deaths and some attempts which were first stated by Russian newspaper, Novaya Gazeta.[15][16]

In Chhattisgarh, the students were asked to write about the game and how it is creating awareness, to which Supreme Court sought complete ban of the game.[17]

Imprisonment and Revelation[edit]

Budeikin was imprisoned after the game started creating awareness of suicide, for a period of 3 years, in 2017.[18][19][20][2][21] Before being jailed, he revealed that he was a university-expelled student[22] and had created the game only because he found that the majority of kids of society were victims to 'biological wastes'.[23][24][25][26][27]
