Phurba Sherpa (Nepali: फुर्वा शेर्पा) is a Nepali producer, director, and singer.
Film career[edit]
Phurba Sherpa worked as a Line Producer for the 2024 film Operation Valentine, produced by Sony Pictures Films India and Renaissance Pictures.[1][2]
Music career[edit]
In addition to his roles as a filmmaker, Phurba is also recognized as a Nepali singer. Sherpa's album, "Geet Ek Akshar Ko," featuring the world's first-ever one-letter song in the global music industry titled "Song of Nepal." This set a world record for singing and creating a song using only the letter 'mah' of the Devanagari script.[3][4]
Writing career[edit]
Sherpa has written for CNN[5] and Annapurna Post[6] about Nepali history and Sherpas and Mount Everest.[7] He has also about the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the future of media (एआईको सदुपयोग र मिडियाको भविष्य) in the daily newspaper Nagarik.[8]
Sherpa participated in the Global Media Congress held in Abu Dhabi from November 14-16, 2023.[9][10] Drawing from this experience, he has penned articles sharing insights and reflections from the congress.
Television shows[edit]
Phurba Sherpa has directed and produced several influential television shows.
His television career commenced with the groundbreaking show "War of DJ's 2010," a program that spotlighted upcoming DJs and showcased intense battles among them. This marked the inception of Phurba's journey into television production.
As a director and producer, Phurba Sherpa has helmed a number of shows, including "The Flop Show," "Little Champs," "Top Ten Chartbuster," the NEFTA Film Awards series (4th and 5th editions), "U & Me," "New Year show-Utsav," and Cyber Sansaar. He worked as the producer and director of the Television talk show Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya from 2017 to 2022. This insightful talk show has provided a platform for engaging discussions and valuable insights. Phurba Sherpa has also directed the reality shows Idea Studio Season 5 and Band Champion Nepal. Both shows were broadcasted on AP1 TV, marking a milestone as the first HD Television in Nepal.[11][12]
