Phyllomedusa (from the name of a genus of tree frogs) is a one-man, heavily frog-themed Gorenoise / Frognoise project.
The project currently resides in the American State of Maryland, but it is not known if it started there. It is also unknown when the project started; however, their Discogs page lists their earliest records to 2007.
With over 200 albums through its career, it is not much in debate that phyllomedusa is by far the biggest figure on Frognoise and along with Last Days of Humanity and Anal birth as the biggest figures in Gorenoise.
Fijian Series[edit]
While most of phyllomedusa's albums are gorenoise, the most comercially successful and iconic albums of phyllomedusa's career may be classified as a mix of Sludge Metal with Frognoise, These series have the tendency of having Phyllomedusa signature trash can snare and a sea-focused aesthetic.
The series started on April 1 2016 with the release of Fijian Holiday, this album, along with its opener, Bula Bitch!, are the most popular album and song respectively of phyllomedusa as of 2024.
In 11 September of 2017, Fijian Effluvium was released, containing the iconic 10 minute opener "Annihilateville"
In 1 April of 2019, Fijian Fantasies was released, his most popular album in RYM, along with the legendary Gulf Inertia
The series would be inactive for another 5 years until in 2 of february of 2024, Fijian Nightmare was released, showcasing that maybe the Fijian Series may endure forever
As of September 10 2024, we got our last fijian series release as of the date of the edit: Fijian Rot, which would also be considered a mini album on that its lenght is 20 minutes instead of 40-ish like the other 4.
