Piet Makkes
Piet Makkes is a Dutch Paralympic swimmer from Den Hoorn. He represented the Netherlands at international competitions. [1]
He won three gold medals at the 1968 Summer Paralympics. He won the gold medal in the 3x 50 m Medley Relay open event together with Cees Broekman (breaststroke) and John van der Starre (backstroke). Van der Starre swam in the relay the 50 m freestyle. He won individually gold medals in the 50 m Freestyle special class event and 50 m Backstroke special class event.
He was honored with medalists of the 1968 Paralympics, by minister Klompé in The Hague.[2]
