"Pink Stainless Tail" is a song by the avant-rock band Red Krayola. The song appeared on their 1967 debut album The Parable of Arable Land.
Overview[edit]
It was subtitled "Seven Guest Are Quite Now, And Now Not Half So Much" on the original 1967 LP The Parable of Arable Land, and was released in mono and stereo. The stereo mix was simulated stereo made using a stereo effects chamber with added psychedelic effects.[2]
The song was originally recorded in mono on April 10, 1967. The mono take would later be overdubbed with a "free form freak-out", which was an hour long tape of free improvised pieces the band recorded with their secondary group "The Familiar Ugly" on April Fools Day 1967.
On the 2011 The Parable of Arable Land CD reissue remixed by Sonic Boom, demo tapes from the bands first recording with IA were included that contained an early version of "Pink Stainless Tail" that was dubbed "Pink Stainless Tail (Alternate Version)".[3]
"Pink Stainless Tail" was released as a single in 2011, as the B-side to "Hurricane Fighter Plane".
In popular culture[edit]
Pink Stainless Tail were a rock band which formed in Melbourne, Australia, who named themselves after the song.[citation needed]
