Plaid Cymru, Green Party, Common Ground
Plaid Cymru, Green Party, Common Ground was an alliance formed by the local constituency parties of Plaid Cymru and the Welsh Green Party to fight the 2022 Cardiff Council election. In September 2021 Plaid Cymru and the Green Party announced an electoral pact, which would see them fielding a joint slate of candidates in Cardiff[1]. The alliance's campaign was formally launched on the 24th April 2022.[2]
Common Ground gained 17% of votes across the city in the election, coming third behind Welsh Labour (47%) and the Welsh Conservatives (19%).[3] This resulted in only 2 elected seats - in the Pentyrch and St Fagans ward,[4] while the Welsh Liberal Democrats had 10 councillors returned on a 14% share of the overall vote.[3]
The Alliance's elected councillors are Andrea Gibson and Rhys Owain Livesey.[4]
