Plastique Tiara is the stage name of Duc Tran,[1] a Vietnamese-American drag queen. She is known for competing in the eleventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race, as well as collaborating with several YouTube makeup artists.
Early life
Tran was born in Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. His family moved to the United States when he was 11 years old. He stated he did not know English for three to four years after he moved to the United States and practiced his English in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class.[2] He started doing drag when he was 18.[3] His drag mother is Alyssa Edwards, and he is a member of the drag haus of Edwards.[4]

She appeared in YouTube videos for Patrick Starrr since 2018.[6][7] Tiara did a drag transformation on model James Charles in March 2019.[8][9]
Tiara had approximately 250,000 Instagram followers before being announced on Drag Race.[10]
RuPaul's Drag Race
Tiara was announced to be competing on the eleventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race on January 24, 2019.[11] In episode three, she was part of the first ever six-way lip sync in the show's history.[12][13] Anna Quintana from Distractify described her as "the breakout star of the VH1 series... [She] has been slaying the competition — and we're sure has more tricks up her sleeves."[14] Heading into episode three, Gold Derby readers ranked her as the third most likely to win the series after Brooke Lynn Heights and A’Keria C. Davenport.[15] Plastique still remains in the competition.
Personal life
Tran resides in Dallas, Texas, as of 2019.[16] Outside of drag, he works as a hairstylist and uses human hair. He has created wigs for other Drag Race alum, including Aquaria.[17] Tran cites Vietnamese pop culture as inspiration to his drag aesthetic, including Minh Tuyết, which Tuyết acknowledged.[18]
