Playboy Club is a Fan Subscription Platform where creators can upload and sell their content to their fans through subscriptions, while keeping a minimum 80% of their total earnings, and platform witholds the rest 20% as a fee. Playboy Club was created in 2021, by Playboy Inc.

History - Shift to Digital Era

Covid & Magazine

During COVID-19 outbreak, Playboy was one of the companies affected too, since in March 2020, the business announced that the Spring edition of its magazine would be, the last one of the year.[1].

Covid & The Playboy Club of Manhattan

In the meantime, Playboy closed the Playboy Club located in Midtown Manhattan in November 2019 due to Covid.[2]

The Digital Platform is born

However, even though COVID-19 pandemic was changing the global economy, the subscription-based model was becoming very popular within adult entertainment. Playboy created its own Fan-platform, where Playboy-Creators would interact directly with their fans, in a digital continuation of its magazine.[3][4]

The platform was launched in December 2021, and initially was named “CENTERFOLD”, after the magazine concept of 1953 (a full-color nude photo folded into the magazine’s center). In the following months, it was renamed as "Playboy Club", since Playboy Creators could interact directly with their fan-club.[5]

Business Model

Playboy Club offers a subscription-based content platform - which allows any verified creator to publish and monetize her content.[6][7][8]

Curated Content & Waiting Lists

It offers curated content, aligned to its Magazine's standards.[9][10][11] That's why in order to become a Playboy Club creator you have to apply and then be accepted by its editorial team[12]

Famous Creators of Playboy Club

Playboy Club’s creator community consists of: celebrities[13], artists & famous adult performers. Some of them are:[14]

Mia Khalifa fired from Playboy Club

Mia Khalifa has been fired from the creator platform of Playboy Club in October 2023, after supporting the Hamas attacks on Israel.[21]

According to Playboy Club's statement, "We are writing today to let you know of our decision to terminate Playboy's relationship with Mia Khalifa, including deleting Mia's Playboy channel on our creator platform." The statement continued: “At Playboy, we encourage free expression and constructive political debate, but we have a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech. We expect Mia to understand her words and actions have consequences.”[22][23][24][25][26]
