Political Pandora is a youth-led news and opinions publication founded by Adi Roy and Thenthamizh SS in December 2020. The publication focuses on real-world news and political issues where teenagers from across the world share articles, expressing their opinions and thoughts. Political Pandora also serves as a platform for the simplification of news for teenagers.[1]
Overview
An up-and-coming publication offering humane perspectives often lacking in traditional print media and journalism[2], Political Pandora remains an internet-based media platform analysing and questioning normative views on politics and socio-cultural issues. According to the Pandora Editorial Board, Political Pandora’s content aims at initiating conversations about disregarded and overlooked aspects of issues.
Political Pandora amassed over 10,000 viewers on June 11, 2021, reaching countries stretching across five continents of Asia, North America, South America, Africa and Europe with a majority of its following in its base of Asia. Its contributors of various nationalities offer assorted views and analyses spread over the political spectrum and different levels of analysis – local, regional, national, international and global.
In an interview titled 'Through the lens of the youth', the teen founders were interviewed by Mid-Day on the start and conceptualisation of the publication.[3]

History
Founded in December 2020, Political Pandora was initially launched on Instagram, with the official website[4] launching on March 10, 2021. The founders, Adi Roy and Thenthamizh SS, started the publication during their junior year in high school in India. Started as a project, the publication quickly grew with interested contributors joining from over five countries.

The News category aims to bring to light news updates and headlines from around the world. Encompassing the perspective of the youth, articles under this category highlight the often overlooked perspectives and details of current world affairs. Through this category, Political Pandora aims to diversify the publication’s content by opening up conversations about lesser known issues and global challenges faced by countries in all corners of the world, ensuring that the vision of putting forth the voice of the youth is met. Writers present an unbiased and unique stance, exploring multiple different perspectives.
This category also serves as a platform for the simplification of news for young people in order to increase youth engagement in current affairs.

Political Pandora’s politics section analyses and dissects political issues from around the world. The publication, seeking to represent different sections of the world equally, particularly marginalised communities, provides viewpoints and arguments regarding various governments and contemporary issues. From public policy to the state of the economy to discussions between political figures, the politics section aims at starting debates while highlighting critical circumstances.
Opinions
Pandora Opinions aims at providing strong, informed, and focused perspectives of the youth on current affairs and issues of importance. The opinions section seeks to empower youth to formulate their own judgment on topics and amplify their voice while also educating readers. While Political Pandora wants to talk about the news from an unbiased, expository point of view, the publication also wants to provide a place of civil discussion, political discourse, and deeper conversations.
Pandora Opinions[5] shares a wide variety of viewpoints, which, according to the Pandora Editorial Board, aims to open the mind of the reader to different sides of the story.
Culture
Under this category of Political Pandora, writers aim to judge and analyse the impact of culture and its influence on global issues and politics. Pandora Culture explores and evaluates fashion, film, literature, art, and more, from a political lens.[6]
Climate
Pandora Climate is a newly devised segment, with the goal to open discussions on the drastic impacts of the ongoing climate crisis. By exploring various different climate disasters, governmental policies and international efforts to curb climate change, writers dive into the causes, practices and effects from a political standpoint, to further understand the global efforts to reverse climate change.
The Pandora Department of Climate also publishes monthly climate reports, highlighting significant climate-related events.

An Instagram exclusive, this segment aims to shed light on ongoing current affairs on a weekly basis – “This week from around the world”. Keeping up with issues from around the world, the headlines offer the audience a brief insight into occurrences from different parts of the world, encouraging viewers to further research and learn about them.
The headlines are curated to highlight issues that are often undermined or overlooked by mainstream news agencies and social media, aiming to create awareness and initiate fruitful discourse.
Pandora’s Diaries
In this segment, writers aim at exploring socio-cultural and political issues through a creative lens, Pandora’s Diaries presents literary works of art, ranging from poetry, short stories, satirical essays, personal narratives, and other mediums of writing.
In a live statement released by the Pandora Editorial Board, it was announced that Pandora's Diaries[7] is inclusive to all, aiming to celebrate diversity, individuality, and self-expression.
