Politics on trial

The Politics on trial (Georgian: პოლიტიკა სამსჯავროზე, politika samsjavroze) project is a cycle of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary training and scientific theoretical-practical measures implemented by faculty of Law and International Relations of the Georgian Technical University. This project of Dr. Kuprashvili provides for competition between students of higher educational institutions or students of schools on knowledge of politics The students of different disciplines and specialties study, examine and evaluate policies conducted by famous historical figures and politicians who have had a large impact on how modern society works. On the basis of historical facts they learn and research whether the influential politicians have envisaged their national interests. The obtained results are judged in a mock trial. A mock trial gives students the opportunity to reveal the obtained multifaceted knowledge and skills in a visible, interesting and effective way. As for Jury members, the mock trial gives them the ability to understand and evaluate the above mentioned revealed knowledge (the jury assesses only the level of team preparation, not politics). This project unites researches in political science, law and international relations, history and other specialties. The mix of researches together with the results of the theoretical practical synthesis and universalization of these scientific specialties should facilitate development of a highly competitive and high-level specialists. The project, its goals and objectives are fully apolitical and exclude any personal or organizational contact with any political processes.

In the 2019-2020 season, more than 18 competitions were held. In addition to students of the Georgian technical University, it was attended by students of the Tbilisi State University, International Black Sea University, Ilia State University and so on, as well as students of both public and private secondary schools in Georgia.
