Pony Wave is a tattooist, street artist and painter currently residing in Los Angeles, where she operates her studio.[1][2][3][4] She is known for her art works and paintings, in particular for her Stay Safe! mural on the Venice Art Walls in Los Angeles,[5] which gained notability and media attention.[6][7][8][9][10] In her art, Pony Wave specializes in stylized colored drawings influenced by modern trends of realism, Zhostovo painting and an old Russian folk handicraft of graphic art.[11][12][13]She also appeared on Ink Master season 12 as a tattoo artist.[14]

Pony Wave was born and raised in Vladimir, Russia, where she started her tattoo career. Later on in her adult life, Pony Wave moved to Los Angeles, USA, where she works and lives now.[15][16] Pony Wave is a vegan.[17][18]

Career and works[edit]

Her "Stay Safe" mural (created in March 2020),[19] depicting a masked couple kissing, went viral in spring 2020 in the beginning of the coronavirus quarantine in the US and globally.[20][8][7][21][22] Pony Wave was the core tattoo artist in Season 12, Episode 5 on Ink Master, an American reality television series that aired on The Paramount Network.[23][14][8] Her tattoo style embraces Russian folklore tradition of Zhostovo painting,[2][24][25] minimalism and elements of realism[26] that features intricate detailing.[27][15][1] As of November 2020, Pony Wave had 250 thousands followers of her art on Instagram.[26][28] She is also associated with Sullen art collective.[3][11] In April 2021, Pony Wave's work was presented at the Art for People exhibition, organized by the US Embassy in Beijing, China.[1]
