About[edit]

PopJam is a site by SuperAwesome that lets users create drawings, follow other users, and more. The site was designed for users ages 7-12.

The service is available on iOS, Android, and PC (limited).

Features[edit]

PopJam allows users to create drawings, upload selfies (with a sticker), upload photos, follow users, play games, do quizzes, and leave comments.

Any bad words are covered in hashtags (for example, ##############). The site is COPPA compliant. Users can level up by having lots of followers and there is an option to shake your phone to find PopJammers (users of PopJam)

Users can @mention users by putting @usernamehere (usernamehere would be replaced with the user's username, for example, @exampleusername) users can also add tags to their post by putting #tag (tag would be replaced with the name of the tag, for example, #wikipedia)

Parent Portal[edit]

The SuperAwesome Parent Portal is a dashboard where parents can manage their kid's online activity across SuperAwesome services, including PopJam.

Parent's can delete their child's account, see the full name used in an app, look at the email attached to the account, the child's date of birth, and their address.

They can also see the active apps and review what features the app can use, and see the display name used on an app.

Reviews[edit]

Parent Zone says that it is rated PEGI 3[1], Common Sense Media says it's for users 11+, and adds [2]

Parents need to know that PopJam is a creativity/social media app where kids (including kids under 13) can post content and connect with other users. Kids can create and post drawings, use stickers, animations, and images (so long as they're not identifiable in the images), take quizzes, play games, and more. It's been called "Instagram for kids" because kids can have followers who view and comment on their posts, and they can follow and comment on other users' posted content. While no social media site is 100 percent fail-safe, PopJam employs moderators and a monitoring software system, it limits posts to between 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and it includes a long list of safety guidelines for kids new to social media. Parents can keep tabs on their kids' PopJam activity through a SuperAwesome Parents portal (a service used by many kids' digital media). Read the developer's privacy policy for details on how your (or your kids') information is collected, used, and shared and any choices you may have in the matter, and note that privacy policies and terms of service frequently change.

And the Zift App Advisor says Parental Discretion Advised.[3]
