A Pop It[1] (also known as pop-it, pop it or Pop-It) is a toy that consists of some small "bubbles", that are purposely made for people to pop, in a random shape, both mainly made out of silicone. Pop Its became popular and trending toys during the 2020s and became a commercial success and an instant hit, especially to kids.

Similar to fidget spinners, Pop Its have been used to help with anxiety and also helps relieving stress, ADHD and autism.[2]

History[edit]

The Pop It was first created in the 1970s by Theo and Ora Coster, an Israeli couple who owned Theora Design.[3]

Design[edit]

A Pop It
The Pop It has a similar concept to the bubble wrap.

A Pop It comes across very different shapes, sizes and colours. It is mainly made from silicone to maintain easy movement and elasticity. It is also for easy cleanliness. However, some Pop Its are bordered with plastic. Its concept is therefore similar to the bubble wrap.

In popular culture[edit]

TikTok[edit]

The Pop It became wildly popular on the Chinese social media platform TikTok,[4][1] along with the hashtag "#popit" amassing more than 10.3 billion views.[5] Their rapid rise in popularity has also been attributed to the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic.[6]
