Porno Massacre is a glam punk band founded in 2008 by Roger Martin and Bruno Gozzi in São Paulo. It has a B-movie-inspired look and torn sound that moves between glam rock, horror punk and cabaret jazz.

Originally named "Porno Holocausto", in reference to the sexploitation movie Porno Holocaust, the band got into a discussion during their first performance due to the fact that the name refers to the WWII Holocaust. The name was then changed to Porno Massacre, in reference to the movie The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

History[edit]

Beginning of career (2008-2010)[edit]

The band was formed in São Paulo early 2008 with Bruno Gozzi on guitar, Roger Martin on vocals, Renan Okumura on drums and Henrique Sandrini on bass. Roger and Bruno met at night in São Paulo, Renan and Henrique would join the band through Bruno. His early years were in tribute to the Sex Pistols and rehearsals took place at the back of a deactivated factory that would later be dubbed "O Chiqueiro" (The Stye, in English).

Authorial thinking and the abandonment of the cover world (2010-2016)[edit]

The idea of creating their own songs was common to all members since the first rehearsals, but the first attempts were frustrated because they could not reach an interesting sound. The tribute project then plays an important role in the rapport and financial support of the band, which after undergoing some reformulations (leaving Renan Okumura in 2009 / entering Mauro Terra, leaving Henrique Sandrini in 2010 / entering Paulo Bastos), have the training that would develop the first copyright songs.

Even with full-fledged creations, the band decides to stick to the tribute project to fund early recordings, often performing at famous houses like "O Kazebre" and "Hangar 110" and traditional cover events.[1]

In March 2012, they get their first fully authored show after being selected for the Grito Rock Festival[2] in Barretos. Noting great receptivity from the audience, the band then decides to record their songs giving rise to the EP: "Os Arautos do Apocalipse" ("The Heralds of the Apocalypse", in English), which was to be released in 2013.

The release and the increasingly performative shows put the band on the circuit of small bars and nightclubs in SP and major events such as Virada Cultural[3]. In 2016 they release their debut album The Great Porno Massacre Adventures, Vol. 1, featuring nine songs by the independent label Dinamite Records, where they assume the respective alter egos of "General Sade" (Roger Martin), "Aiatolá do Rock and Roll" "(Bruno Gozzi), "Dirty Fingers" (Paulo Bastos) and "Black Nail" (Mauro Terra), also adding theatrical elements to the stage performance, which would become the band's main mark.

In 2017 the band releases the EP "É o que me resta?"[4][5][6] ("Is that what I have left" in English) by the label Torto Records, featuring two unreleased tracks and a version of "Isso para mim é perfume" song from the album "Tudo ao mesmo tempo agora" from the Brazilian band Titãs also present in the tribute collection "O Pulso Ainda Pulsa"[7]. That year the band would later turn off "Dirty Fingers" (Paulo Bastos) for personal misunderstandings and then incorporating "Little Lucifer" (Marcelo Mourão) on bass.

Despite the destabilization of Paulo's departure, 2017 was a great year for the band returning to the stage of SP and again at the Virada Cultural festival[8], their EP receives good reviews and even this year participate in the compilation "O Verão do Amor"[9], which honors the albums released in 1967, the year the Summer of Love phenomenon occurred, with a version of The Sonics' Dirty Old Man.

In 2018 in conjunction with NoWar Records label they embark on a small tour in Chile, where they release their second full album: "Que Venha o Caos ("May the Chaos" in English) of nine tracks. In this period was also incorporated a second guitar: Diego Souza, guitarist and vocalist of the band "Atos de Vingança" joins the band with the nickname "El Diablo Loco".
