Pozalabs (Korean: 포자랩스) is a South Korean AI music company. It is the operator of the AI music generator web service LAIVE, which was open-beta launched in January 2024. With over a million exclusive music data, Pozalabs is known for not causing a copyright infringement issues when training their AI model.

History[edit]

The founder of Pozalabs, Huh, Wongil.[1], started developing artificial intelligence music generation models in 2017, creating programs such as 'Musicus(뮤직쿠스)' and 'Dream Intelligence(몽상지능).' In January 2018, Pozalabs was officially founded, intensifying the development of AI music composition models. In May 2018, Pozalabs secured seed investment from Naver D2SF, and in August of the same year, additional seed investment from BonAngels Venture Partners.

In May 2021, Pozalabs raised pre-series A investments from Naver D2SF, BonAngels Venture Partners, and KB Investment. In February 2022, a consortium was formed with Supertone and Seoul National University, launching the AI Producer Project. In September 2022, a paper "ComMU: Dataset for Combinatorial Music Generation" was presented at the NeurIPS conference.

In October 2022, Pozalabs raised a series A funding from CJ ENM[2], with the investment amount remaining undisclosed. In the same month, they launched the AI background music subscription service called viodio.

In September 2023, Pozalabs established a US branch, assigning Taehyun Kim, the CSO of Pozalabs, as CEO of Pozalabs America, Inc.

In January 2024, Pozalabs introduced the AI music generator platform called LAIVE[3]

  • Pozalabs published a paper titled "ComMU: Dataset for Combinatorial Music Generation" discussing its music generation technology at NeurIPS (Neural Information Processing Systems) In September 2022.[4]

LAIVE (AI music generator)[edit]

It is an artificial intelligence music creation web service. The service allows its users to create two types of music; instrumental music, which does not include lyrics and voice and vocal music, which includes both lyrics and voice. It also offers an editor feature, allowing users to modify AI-generated lyrics to their preferences.

viodio (AI background music subscription service)[edit]

It is a background music subscription web service, which provide its users a library of copyright-free instrumental music.

AI music licensing (B2B)[edit]

Pozalabs caters to corporations by providing AI-generated music tailored to their specific requests. Companies such as, CJ ENM, MBC, Krafton, Samsung Life, SK Telecom and others are currently utilizing this service across various fields like movies, dramas, variety shows, etc.
