Prague Raptors Football Club, is a Czech football club based in Prague. The men's team currently plays in the 9th tier (III. třída skupina A - Praha) and the women's team in the 4th tier (Divize žen skupina A, Čechy).

The club was founded on the 23rd February 2018 in Prague. Originally the plan was to be called ‘Prague City Football Club’. Comprising 32 different nationalities, the Prague Raptors stake a claim for being one of the most diverse clubs in Europe.[1]

Club symbols

Raptors President, Daz Moss, is originally from Leeds and a big fan of Leeds United. Therefore he originally wanted a white kit inspired by his favourite club. However his son, Lukas, preferred the color blue and it was decided the Raptors would play in Electric Blue with white detailing. Also the name Raptors was chosen by the 6 year old Lukas Moss due to his love for dinosaurs and his favourite film being Jurassic Park. Lukas Moss and Maya Moss, the children of president Daz Moss and his wife Petra Moss, still play an important role representing the club as the mascots of Prague Raptors.[2]

History

First season (2018-2019)

Prague Raptors men’s team got off to a successful start of the first season by winning their first two league games without conceding a goal.[3] This laid the groundwork for finishing the first half of the season in the III. třída skupina A - Praha division in a creditable 3rd place. One of the highlights of the season was a 28-1 away win against Football Club Prosex.[4]
Another historic moment came on the 21st of April 2019, the first time ever a Raptors game was televised on Czech television.[5]
Again Football Club Prosex were the opponents, but this time it only finished with a 3:0 win for the Raptors. [6]

After high demand Prague Raptors decided to also start[7] a women’s team which started their first season playing against TJ Baník Švermov, conceding only one goal. They finished the first half of the season in the 4th tier (Divize žen skupina A, Čechy) in 7th place. The team has managed to sign some players with playing experience in high profile clubs like Bohemians Praha, Dukla Praha or FC Hradec Králové.

Cooperations

Prague Raptors work closely with the League 5 Football Academy in Prague and has strong club values in place, with diversity sitting at the top of the list. The club is a member of the FARE network, an organization that focuses on inclusivity in football and welcomes players regardless of race, sexual orientation or religious beliefs. They are also partnering with Football v Homophobia. Additionally the Raptors support Street Child and Brave Bear CZ which are charities supporting children suffering from malnutrition, life-threatening illnesses, poverty and conflict. The UK based charity Street Child is also featured on the Raptors training shirt with all profits from the sale of training shirts going to projects of the charity that support children in Sierra Leone and other countries.[8]

Stadium

Prague Raptors currently rent their pitch from FC Zličín, a team in Prague with brand new facilities. The club has longer term ambitions to be based in Anděl - a neighbourhood in Prague 5's central district of Smíchov.
