Prairie View High School (PVHS) is a public high school located in Henderson, Colorado, United States. It is part of School District 27J (27J Schools), which serves the communities of Brighton, Commerce City, Thornton, and surrounding areas in Adams County.[3] The school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and its athletic teams are known as the Thunderhawks.[4]
History
Prairie View High School was established in 2006 to accommodate the growing population in the northeastern Denver metropolitan area.[5] It is one of three comprehensive high schools operated by 27J Schools, alongside Brighton High School and Riverdale Ridge High School.[6]
The school community represents significant linguistic diversity, with nineteen languages spoken among its student families.[7]
Academics
Prairie View High School offers a comprehensive curriculum including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Project Lead The Way programming, and a Gifted and Talented program.[8] Approximately 38% of students participate in AP coursework.[3]
STEM and Career and Technical Education
The school features a state-of-the-art STEM and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center on campus, which provides students with multiple career pathway options. The school also houses a nationally recognized business program.[7]
