In September 1987, Kaipa joined Apple International Marketing and later went on to Apple University where he became a Fellow in 1989.[4] Kaipa attributes his understanding of design, innovation and leadership to the time he spent as a Fellow at Apple University.[5] During his time there, Kaipa attended an Open Space Meeting where he was noted by Harrison Owen as being direct and blunt.[6]

Advising and Coaching career[edit]

In 2002, Kaipa co-founded Entrepreneur Institute for the TiE Silicon Valley to assist entrepreneurs develop soft skills and connect, engage and co-create effectively with others in the ecosystem.[7][8] While working in the capacity of Executive Director, Centre for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC) at ISB Hyderabad, Kaipa helped launch the Research Cell on Public Sector Leadership for State Bank of India in 2009.[9] Center for Creative Leadership, a leadership development consulting company, named Dr. Kaipa the 'H. Smith Richardson Visiting Fellow' for 2010-2011.[10]

After years of research on companies and their leaders, Dr. Kaipa and Navi Radjou wrote From Smart to Wise[37] The book has been acclaimed for the authors' take on two facets of leadership - smartness, which Kaipa opines as creating strategies regardless of context, and wisdom (which comes with introspection and reflection, according to Kaipa). [38][39][40] Author and professor Adam Grant has acknowledged Kaipa's contribution towards identifying great leaders. [41]

Along with his book's co-author, Navi Radjou, Kaipa has also authored leadership related articles in mainstream media.[42][43] Other co-authors of Kaipa's writings include Jaideep Prabhu, Simone Ahuja, John Edson and Meera Shenoy.[44][45][46][47]

His latest publication is You Can: Be Smarter and Wiser co-authored by Meera Shenoy.[48] It is a collection of real life stories of people with impairments overcoming challenges. The book has received a mixed response from critics, wherein its contents were thought to be overly optimistic and lacking creativity in its narration style, although ultimately inspirational.[49]

Kaipa has also been hosted for book reading sessions at Business Development Bureau (BDB) India Private Limited in Pune [50]
