Prince Pathak (born 28 August 1978) is an Indian politician and social worker. He is also the Social Media Coordinator of All India Trinamool Youth Congress, the Social Media wing of the All India Trinamool Congress, a political party in India, currently in power in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Personal life and career
Prince Pathak was born in a middle-class family in Begusarai District of Bihar. His father was working with SAIL ISP at Burnpur, and he moved to his father in Burnpur, Asansol in West Bengal. His mother, Manimala Pathak, is a Housewife. He completed his 10th from West Bengal Board as well as Higher Secondary in Science. He is a Commerce Graduate from Burdwan University in 2001. In 2005, he completed his MBA in Marketing from Gandhi Institute of Management Studies.
Professional Career & Social Service
After acquiring his MBA degree, Prince Pathak worked as a Marketing professional in large corporations like Tata and Birla group in India, and also as an entrepreneur. During his professional career, he volunteered his time and capabilities to serve various social causes such as the education of underprivileged children, especially girls. In 2011, Prince joined and actively contributed to the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, alongside Arvind Kejriwal and many other leaders who had come together to demand implementation of anti-corruption legislation from the government in the form of Jan Lokpal Bill. From 2014 onward, he began to work for ‘Raise Your Voice A NGO’. The group focused on addressing the grievances of Asansol’s poorest people relating to issues like water, electricity, social welfare schemes and Public Distribution System (PDS), using tools like public interest litigation (PIL), the state's Right to Information (RTI) Act, etc. This NGO also started its two other projects ‘Save Sparrow’ and ‘Dr APJ Abdulkalam Memorial Football Tournament’ [1]
Political career
Prince started his political career as Founder Member and National Council Member of Aam Aadmi Party and was appointed as Convener of West Bengal Aam Aadmi Party. He played a critical role in building the party organisation right up from the grassroots level - from handling day-to-day administrative affairs, generating resources and funds, ensuring management of party activities within the limited means and budgets available, in West Bengal. He worked as Convener West Bengal and National Council Member of Aam Aadmi Party till June 2014 and left AAP because of controversy with his top leaders on the issue of BJP Bengal.[2]
In June 2014, some people from AAP joined BJP and the then President of BJP Bengal Rahul Sinha claimed that the entire AAP Bengal Unit merged with BJP.[3] On this statement of Rahul Sinha, he protested in front of the BJP State Office where 3 of AAP Volunteers were seriously injured [4]. Prince threatened the BJP Bengal unit to sit on a hunger strike which later became a controversy with his Delhi AAP leaders, and he left the AAP in November 2014.[5]
In January 2018, he joined All India Trinamool Youth Congress as a Social Media Coordinator.
