Prince of Zhou (周王) was a Ming dynasty princely peerage created in 1381 for Zhu Su, Hongwu Emperor's fifth son. The fief of the peerage was located in Kaifeng[1]

Generation poem[edit]

The generation poem given by the Hongwu Emperor sounded:

有子同安睦,勤朝在肅恭。紹倫敷惠潤,昭格廣登庸。

有子同安睦,勤朝在肃恭。绍伦敷惠润,昭格广登庸。

The generation poem was used until the "fu" generation, which was the same generation as that of Tianqi and Chongzhen emperors.

Princedom of Zhou[edit]

  • Zhu Su (朱橚;8 October 1361 – 2 September 1425), Zhu Yuanzhang's 5th son by Empress Xiaocigao who was created Prince of Wu (吴王) in 1370, had his princedom renamed to Prince of Zhou in 1378, held the princedom of Zhou from 1378 to 1425 and was posthumously honoured as Prince Ding of Zhou (周定王)
    • Zhu Youdun (朱有燉; 6 February 1379 - 8 July 1439), Zhu Su's first son who held the princedom from 1425[2] to 1439 and was posthumously honoured as Prince Xian of Zhou (周宪王)[3]
