Princess Guda of Waldeck and Pyrmont (German: Prinzessin Guda zu Waldeck und Pyrmont; born 22 August 1939) is the youngest daughter of Josias, Hereditary Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont, head of the House of Waldeck and Pyrmont from 1946 to 1967 and first wife of Frederick William, Prince of Wied.[1]

Early life[edit]

Guda was born at Arolsen, Germany, the fifth child and fourth daughter of Josias, Hereditary Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont (1896–1967), (son of Friedrich, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont and Princess Bathildis of Schaumburg-Lippe) and his wife, Duchess Altburg of Oldenburg (1903–2001), (daughter of Frederick Augustus II, Grand Duke of Oldenburg and Duchess Elisabeth Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin).[1] Through her father she is descendant of George II of Great Britain, thus she is in the line of succession to the British throne.
