Priscilla Nyadoi also known as Priscilla Nyadoi Onyango is a Ugandan academic, with a PhD in forestry, and an author.[1] She is a member of National Environment Management Authority of Uganda (NEMA), and chairperson OWSD Ugandan Chapter.

Early life and education[edit]

Nyadoi was born in Tororo District. She stated her education from Mutanda Primary School and in 1988, she attained her Primary Leaving Certificate of Education (PLE). She then joined Rubongi Senior Secondary School and she attained her Ordinary Level Certificate of Education (UCE) in 1992. She joined The Nile College School for her A-level and in 1995, she attained her Advanced Level Certification of Education (UACE). Between 1996-2000, Nyadoi attended Makerere University for a Bachelor of Science in forestry. Between 2002-2005, she was at the same university for Master of Science in Forestry. Then between 2006-2010, she was at the same university for PhD in Forestry.[1]

Career[edit]

From March 2011 to date, Nyadoi serves as the Executive Secretary of Uganda Wildlife Society (UWS) where she has been involved in the societies administration, community development, advocacy, policy influence and research strategic programmes.[2] From November 2009 to date, Nyadoi is Part time lecturer at the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Makerere University, Department of Agricultural Production. Between 2013-2014, Nyadoi developed course descriptor for the Energy Sources and Land Use and Common Property Management Course Units for the Bachelor of Land use Management Degree of Makerere University. Between December 2009-April 2010, Nyadoi developed course descriptor for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hotel Management Degree Course under a contract for the Cavendish University Uganda. Nyadoi also participated in the development and review of the curriculum for the diploma in Agroforestry Course now offered by the Government of Uganda. Between November 2017 and November 2020, Nyadoi was a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Environment Management Authority of Uganda (NEMA) and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Uganda Nile Discourse Forum during the same time.[3][4] Nyadoi the leader of the Environment Thematic Group of the Environment and Natural Resources Civil Society Network in Uganda. Nyadoi is also currently the chairperson of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) for the Ugandan chapter.[5][6]

Awards and fellowships[edit]

In 2004-2007, Nyadoi was a fellow in the Third World Organization of Women in Sciences Graduate Fellowship in Italy. International Systems for Analysis Research and Training (START) Visiting Scientist 12th round Fellowship in 2004 in the United States of America and African Network for Agricultural, Natural Resources, Forestry and Environment Education Research (ANAFE) research Fellowship in Kenya in the same year. Between 2007 and 2008, Nyadoi also acquired Austrian Development Cooperation for Academic Mobility OAD Scholarship in Austria. In 2006-2008, she was at the International Foundation for Science Young Scientist Research and Capacity enhancement grants in Sweden. Between May 2007-June 2009. Nyadoi was Research Fellow at the Austrian Research Centre, Department of Biogenetics and Natural Resources and, from November 2003 to May 2009, she was a Research Fellow at the World Agroforestry Centre, International Centre for Research in Agroforestry.[1]

Personal life[edit]

Nyadoi is married to Zachery Onyango and the couple has one child called Canaan Onyango Obbo. Nyadoi's hobbies are singing, debating, nature walks, making friends.[citation needed]
