) is an upcoming Bengali film directed by Rashid Palash, written by Golam Rabbani and produced under the banner of UFORC Limited.[1] It stars Pori Moni in the lead role.[2] It is based on the story of one of the fighters of the anti-British movement and the first woman martyr of Bengal Pritilata Waddedar.[3][4]
The film's shooting has been begun from 23 September 2016 in Dhaka.[5][6] Then Jaya Ahsan was made the lead character, Pritilata Waddedar, of the film.[7] For various reasons, the shooting date was postponed to 1 November 2020. Then the shooting was held in Dhaka's Tejgaon Thana, Old Dhaka for 8 days.[8][1][4] But due to COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting date was again pushed back to 27 October 2021 in Pritilata Waddedar's birth place, Dhalghat village of Patiya Upazila of Chittagong.[9][3] Pori Moni was signed for the film on 23 September 2020.[10]
Plot[edit]
Pritilata Waddedar (Pori Moni) was born on 5 May 1911 in Dhalghat village of Patiya Upazila of Chittagong in Bangladesh.[11] She was tasked with leading a group on 23 September 1932 by Surya Sen.[9] The group would assault the Pahartali European Club in Chittagong.[12] A white woman was murdered and some other people wounded in the assault. When police officers patrolling the club opened fire, Pritilata was injured by a single bullet wound. She was prevented from breakout by the injury. Then, at the age of 21, Pritilata committed suicide by consuming cyanide kept by herself to avoid responsibility by British police.[1][13]

Music[edit]
The song, "Ekbar Bidai De Ma Ghure Ashi", of Pritilata was sung by Kabir Suman. Sabbir Nasir has also sang some songs.[8]

Criticism[edit]
On September 2021, it was said that Pritilata is being built with government grants. But the director, Rashid Palash, said that it was a rumor.[3]
