Priven Reddy is a South African tech entrepreneur and self-made billionaire based in Durban.[1][2] He is the co-founder of WESENDER, a peer-to-peer file sharing application which was backed by an American VC and acquired by a private equity firm for $100 million in 2020; PEERCASH, a peer-to-peer cash remittance network that will operate globally; and Dryvar, a transportation and fulfilment network technology company.
Life & career
Priven grew up in Chatsworth, a KwaZulu-Natal suburb, and in his childhood he earned money by selling cardboard boxes to a recycler, later working as a waiter and then a car guard.[1]
In 2006, Priven co-founded Kagiso Interactive Media, a mobile app development company in Africa, and he serves as the CEO of the company.[3] The company is a recipient of multiple awards.[4][5] In 2017, Kagiso launched Krypteum, an A.I enabled cryptocurrency investment coin.[5]
In 2017, Priven co-founded Shypar, a delivery service based on the Uber] operating model, whereby the drivers transport the goods using the Shypar app to locate the pick-up and drop-off points.[6]
In 2018, Priven founded Dryvar, a local ride-sharing app.[7]
In 2019, Priven launched Dryvar Foods powered by Amazon, an on-demand food delivery platform. Dryvar Foods focuses on empowering local communities by providing first-time entrepreneurship opportunities to disadvantaged Black South African Youth[8].
To capitalize on the rapid growth of the prepared-food delivery sector, in May 2020, Reddy's Dryvar Foods announced the roll out of their "cloud kitchens" start-up business model with over 100 locations throughout South Africa's major metropolitan areas. Cloud kitchens, also known as ghost kitchens, are purpose-built facilities that are leased to restaurants to prepare food for delivery, off-site from their full-service/walk-in location. Cloud kitchens also allow "virtual restaurants" (those with no full-service location) to launch brands and offer delivery-only service. Dryvar Foods cloud kitchens were unable to launch due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant restrictions that had been implemented.
In late 2020 Priven Reddy founded BENCHMARK VENTURE CAPITAL - SOUTH AFRICA, which has invested in various tech startups ranging from fintech to gaming startups.
In August 2021 Priven Reddy funded and launched Leap Aerospace[9] - which has since been rebranded as EON Aerospace[10], to develop the next generation of supersonic passenger jets. EON Aerospace is headquartered in the USA and aims to continue the legacy started by Concorde[11]. The Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde was a British–French turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner that was operated from 1976 until 2003.
In 2021, Priven Reddy made a bold move by relocating to the UAE to drive the international expansion of his ventures. This decision laid the foundation for his future successes in the tech industry.
In 2021, Priven Reddy began developing a location-based social platform called Sirqil[12]. This platform was designed to provide users with a unique social experience based on their physical location.
In 2022, Priven Reddy launched Piqsol[13], a U.S based start-up and the world's first fractional NFT platform. This innovative platform allowed users to purchase and trade fractional ownership of NFTs, opening up new possibilities for collectors and investors alike[14].
In 2022, Priven Reddy launched Metarverse Holdings[15] in collaboration with Engage Beyond. The company aimed to revolutionize the web3 sector[16], leveraging emerging technologies like blockchain and virtual reality to create new opportunities for businesses and consumers alike.
In 2023, Priven Reddy launched Hyypp[17], a social media marketing platform that links stores and influencers. This platform aimed to make it easier for businesses to reach their target audiences through influencer marketing.
In 2023, Priven Reddy launched Unlock Auction[18], a click-to-reveal platform that gave users the opportunity to bid and win items at discounts of up to 95% off the original pricing. This platform aimed to create a fun and engaging experience for users while providing them with unbeatable deals.
In 2023, Priven Reddy also launched Veu.ai[19], an AI content creator that aimed to simplify the content creation process for businesses and individuals. This platform leveraged cutting-edge AI technology to help users create high-quality content quickly and easily.
In 2023, Priven Reddy launched Qdero[20], a cloud-based accounting software platform designed to make it easier for businesses to manage their finances. This platform provided businesses with a comprehensive set of tools to manage their accounting, from invoicing and billing to reporting and analytics.
