The Prix Versailles awards a set of recognitions each year to works of contemporary architecture.[1][2]

Created in 2015, it is associated with UNESCO, which hosts the announcement ceremonies of the world winners.[3][4][5]

The prize's motto is "Inspiration, Progress and Inclusion". It seeks to highlight successful interactions between economy and culture.[6][7][8]

Eight categories of works are awarded: airports,[9] campuses,[10] passenger stations, sports facilities, stores, shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants.[11][12]

To obtain the world titles, the finalists come from either the world selections (airports, campuses, passenger stations, sports facilities categories) or from the winners awarded first at the continental level (stores, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants categories).[13][14]

Among the members who make up the world jury are architects (David Adjaye, Toyo Ito, Thom Mayne, Kazuyo Sejima, Wang Shu, etc.), filmmakers, fashion designers, chefs and other cultural personalities.[15][16]

The criteria applied by the judges encompass "innovation, creativity, reflection of local, natural and cultural heritage, and ecological efficiency, as well as the values of social interaction and participation which the United Nations holds in high regard".[17][18][19]
