The Design Educates Awards, also known as DEAwards, are annual international open awards for architects and designers[1]. The awards recognize, showcase, and promote the best ideas that carry additional educational value.[2] The award gala takes place during the international conference Architecture in Foyer at the Solarlux Campus in Germany[3] (Melle, Lower Saxony, Germany). The winning entries are published in the Design Educates book.
Model[edit]
The theme of the awards is inspired by the research titled 'Educating Buildings' ('Bildende Bauten') by Dr. Peter Kuczia. The assumption of the organizers of the awards, the Laka Foundation from Katowice, Poland, is to promote design that offers an additional educational benefit, an added value that may influence a beneficial change of behavior or way of thinking of the project's recipient. The project itself can highlight specific opportunities and challenges, explain socio-cultural factors and influences, and even create new scenarios for future development.
Categories[edit]
- architectural design
- product design
- universal design
- responsive design
Awards[edit]
All the award's participants are invited to join the awards ceremony and Architecture in Foyer Conference to meet with other participants, jurors, and organizers.
Winners and winning entries receive a lifetime certificate and label. They are also featured in the annual Design Educates publication. They also participate in an exhibition at Solarlux Campus.
Individual students or teams of students who received the highest scores during the judges' evaluation will receive additional financial compensation as a part of the Emerging Designers award.
