Priyanka Singh is a transgender actress and Youtuber based in Hyderabad, India. She appeared in comedy shows and serials in various Telugu TV channels. She has considerable roles in some films too. She has also participated in the Bigg Boss season 5 reality show and finished in Top 7 position.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Early life[edit]
Priynaka Singh was born on 22 November 1996 in a lower middle class family in Amadalavalasa, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh as the fifth child of Dal Bahadur Singh and Varalakshmi. Her birth name was Tej Bahadur Singh. She lost her mother at the age of four and her father soon sought anther life partner. She has two brothers and three sisters. She completed her schooling in a local Telugu Medium School and after that joined for Intermediate course at a college at Srikakulam. She abandoned studies within a year and moved to Hyderabad in pursuit of a career in Film industry. There she worked as a makeup assistant for some time and then moved to Bengaluru. There she worked as makeup man to veteran actress Geethanjali. During that period she got some minor chances in movies in Kannada language to do some lady getup roles. She returned to Hyderabad in 2016 and appeared in some Telugu short film Projects. Seeing her performance in short film 'Pinky', senior comedian Apparao invited her to 'Jabardasth', a popular comedy show in ETV, to do Lady getup roles. Thus she entered ' Jabardasth' as a Lady getup actor in August 2016. By her performance in over 150 episodes in that show, she gained fame in the name Sai Teja Jabardasth. She continued in "Jabardasth" till early June 2018.[7]
Life After Gender Change[edit]
In February 2018, Sai Teja Jabardasth underwent a surgery to fulfill the lifelong dream to become a woman and taken a new name Varalakshmi, in memory of the deceased mother[8]. After the surgery she continued in "jabardasth" show for some months, but as the body changes became more and more evident she was removed from the show. Soon after her expulsion from the show, she was compelled to stay in bed for a period of nine months due to serious health issues.[9][10][11]During this time she was active in Tiktok short video platform and created hundreds of videos. She got over a million likes for her videos and had over 5 Lakh followers through Tiktok . With hard work and inborn talent she again got some acting chances too, with a new screen name, Priyanka Singh. In 2019, she appeared in a major villain role in the web series' Kailasapuram' which was telecasted in Zee network. Then she appeared in a transgender oriented short film' Maronati'. In 2020, she got chance in the newly started comedy show "Adhirindi" in Zee Telugu and appeared in serial 'Guntamma Katha'. The Adhirindi show only lasted one year and after that she moved to a new comedy show which was started in Star Maa chanel, the 'Comedy Stars' and is continuing in it. In 2021, she was selected as a contestant for the fifth edition of Bigg Boss Reality show in Telugu. Priyanka Singh became one of the most successful contestants of Bigg Boss 5 Telugu and become the top7 contestant by her performance and excellent behavior towards the other house mates. She created history in Bigg Boss shows in India by becoming the first transgender person to complete 90 days in a Bigg Boss show in an Indian Language. After her eviction too, she remained a favorite and appeared in many TV shows. Now she is awaiting for entry in to the film world.</ref>[12][13]

Priyanka Singh is an active personality in Telugu Television Shows since 2016. She has done female roles in comedy shows and various TV shows. She appeared in one web series short films and some films. During her nine month break from TV shows, due to health complications after gender change, she was active in Tiktok and gained millions of viewers and more than 500K followers. Her youtube chanel has 178K subscribers and millions of viewers.
