Early Life:[edit]

Prof. (Dr.) Md. Ruhul Amin was born in the year 1964 at Azimpur, Dhaka. His father Md Abdul Mazid was in government service. He hailed from the village Paramtala, Muradnagar, of Cumilla distrct. His mother’s name was Khorsheda Begum. His wife Begum Shahnaz Sinha is a Professor of English, University of Dhaka. He has a son and a daughter.  

Education And Others[edit]

Mr. Amin spent his early life in Azimpur Colony and later his family moved to Rampura, Wapda Road in 1980. He passed his SSC from West End High School in 1979 and HSC from Notre Dame College in 1981. He completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in the year 1987 from Dhaka Dental College. He obtained post graduate Diploma in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics (DAND) from Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of the University of Dhaka in 1989. He obtained post graduate Diploma in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Institute of Post Graduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR) Dhaka. He later completed Master of Surgery (MS) degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2005 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He started his private dental practice at Rampura in 1987 and from 2018 he also started practicing at Satmasjid Road Dhanmodi, Dhaka.


After passing the 9th BCS examination Prof. Ruhul Amin started his career as a Dental Surgeon. He was posted in Upazilla Health Complex such as Ishwargonj, Mymensingh and Bhairab, Kishoregonj. He started his teaching career at Dhaka Dental College he also taught Chittagong Medical College and Shaheed Suhrawardi Medical College at present he is posted at Dhaka Medical College as the Professor and Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.


Prof. Md Ruhul Amin is now the President of Bangladesh Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAMOS). He is also a Councilor of Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS).[1]
