Pulin Bayan Chakma

Pulin Bayan Chakma (born in 1952) is an author[1], Indian politician who has served as the Chief Executive Member of the Chakma Autonomous District Council. Chakma was first elected as Member of District Council in by-election to Jarulsury MDC Constituency held in May 1980. Subsequently, he was elected five consecutive terms (1982, 1988, 1993, 1998 & 2003) from the Rajmandal MDC constituency and later elected from Bajeisora MDC constituency in 2013.

He served as the Chief Executive Member for the four terms[2] under Indian National Congress led government in Chakma Autonomous District Council. During his tenure as Chief Executive Member, establishment of Government Kamalanagar College[3] and Kamalanagar High School, introduction of compulsory Chakma literature and Chakma script in primary schools, English medium in primary and middle schools was introduced. He was associated with the All India Chakma Cultural Association during 1992 to 1993. He is the author of the first Chakma-English Dictionary.
