History

QNu Labs was founded in 2016 by Sunil Gupta, Srinivasa Rao Aluri, Mark Mathias, and Anil Prabhakar.[3] It was incubated at Indian Institute of Technology-Madras and later began operations in Bengaluru.

After conducting field trials for its quantum key distribution (QKD) product, QNu Labs received support from Cisco Launchpad in 2018.[1] The same year, the company was among 22 startups selected by National Association of Software and Service Companies, or NASSCOM, for a three-month mentor-mentee program called Nasscom DeepTech.[5]

In 2019, it was selected by NetApp for the Excellerator program, which offered mentorship and a grant of $15,000 to six startups.[6] QNu Labs won NASSCOM’s 2019 Emerge 50 award and was ranked as one of the top 10 companies from the list of recipients.[7] It also won the Most Innovative Product of the Year award from Data Security Council of India (DSCI).[8]

In 2020, QNu Labs was one of the 11 firms selected for Plugin, a startup incubation program by the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology, Intel India, and IIT-Bombay.[9]
