Qargo Coffee is an American chain of coffeehouses and roastery reserves. It was founded in 2015 by Sam Shenouda. There are 90 locations in United States as of 2025.[1]

History

In winter of 2015, Sam Shenouda founded Qargo Coffee, and soon they reached to Lavazza, they discussed the challenges that European brands faced when entering the U.S. market.

In 2020, Qargo Coffee was officially establish, and they opened their first store in Tampa International Plaza in 2022, and soon they expand to 16 states and 90 locations as of 2025.[2]

Criticisms and controversies

In October 22, 2024, The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) accused the owners of Qargo Coffee of violating a rarely cited franchise law while racking up $1.25 million in fees from 59 franchisees in multiple states.[3]

The FTC proposed a $1.25 million judgement against Qargo owners, Mark and Bernadette Bastorous and Samir Shenouda. Citing their inability to pay that amount, the approved order calls for a $30,000 fine, with the remaining amount suspended.

The order also requires Qargo and its founders to provide written notice to its franchisees and licensees, informing them of their right to rescind their contracts without penalty.[4]
