Qdot, born Fakoya Qudus Oluwadamilare, is a Yoruba Hip hop Afrobeats musician of Oyo origin but born and raised in Ikorodu, Lagos. He performs a blend of rap and afrocentric afrobeats sounds heavily centered upon the Yoruba language, history and and traditions and through which he brought himself onto the music scene, particularly in Nigeria. He is the owner of the Yorubaboi Music record label and is curently signed to it.[1]
Early Life and Education[edit]
Qdot completed his high school education at United Senior High school in Lagos State. After that, he went on to study General Arts at Yaba College of Technology, in Yaba, Lagos.[2]
Music and Career[edit]
Qdot began an official musical career in the year 2010 and began with hip hop as his musical style. In 2010, he went mainstream with the release of his debut song titled Story of my Life. He eventually rose to prominence in 2013 with Alomo Meta which gave him success and won him notoriety at the City People Music Awards. By 2014, he was established on the Nigerian artist music scene with hit songs like Ibadan, featuring Olamide. He also has features with Davido, Reminisce, and Patoranking. Qdot owns his own record label, named Yorubadboi.[3] He has worked with producers such as D'tunes, Antras, Indomix, and Citi Boi.[4][5]
