Quinelle Jonathan Holder (born July 15, 1990), is an American music industry executive based in the Washington, D.C. area. Holder primarily works with hip hop artists, having worked for GOOD Music, Warner Music Group, All Def Digital, Orchard, and Pusha T’s Heir Wave Music Group. Holder is best known for his work with Desiigner, helping promote the rapper’s debut single "Panda" and serving as his road manager until 2017. Since founding Medium Creative Agency in 2014 with his wife, Sabrina Vaz-Holder, Holder has worked with many DMV artists including Pusha T, Trey Songz, Young Crazy, IDK (rapper) and Cordae.[1][2][3]

Early life[edit]

Holder graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia in 2008.[4] He has a twin sister named Quenette.[5]

Career[edit]

Journalism[edit]

Holder began his media career as a fashion blogger before landing an internship with Cornerstone in 2012. At the same time he began working for Philadelphia rap blog HipHopSince1987, covering the industry and interviewing popular rappers like Kendrick Lamar.[6][7] While blogging and serving as content manager for HipHopSince1987, Holder began to garner more attention in the booming hip hop "blog era" of the mid-2000s and early 2010s. In 2013, VIBE turned to him and other industry observers for his take on the feud between Top Dawg Entertainment and GQ over the magazine’s cover story on Kendrick Lamar.[8]

In 2014, Quinelle co-founded Medium PR Agency, later Medium Creative Agency, with his wife, Sabrina Vaz-Holder, who had worked alongside him at HipHopSince1987. The pair worked with artists including IDK, BIA, and Gashi.[9] Holder continued to work as a blogger and content producer as an editorial assistant for KarenCivil.com and, beginning in 2015, as the music editor for Miss Info and Complex Network’s MissInfo.TV.[10][11]

Working with Desiigner[edit]

In 2015, Holder started working for Brooklyn-based rapper Desiigner to help the unsigned artist gain attention for his debut single "Panda".[12] After Desiigner was signed by Kanye West’s GOOD Music and "Panda" went platinum in early 2016, Holder continued to work on publicity and served as road manager for the rapper.[7] [12]

2017-present[edit]

A prominent figure in the DMV music scene, Holder is a frequent panelist and speaker on the music industry, hip hop, and creator culture. He's given talks and participated in panel discussions at The College of William & Mary, at Pharrell’s Something In the Water Festival, at The Recording Academy’s Washington D.C. chapter, and in St. Louis for local music promoter Stereo Assault.[13][14][10] In 2017, Holder was invited to serve on the Recording Academy’s Washington D.C. Chapter Board as an advisor.[15] In 2018, Audiomack tapped Holder to be their curator for the DMV playlist in their #HometownHeroes series, a project he continued to work on through 2021.[16]

In 2018, Holder began working for All Def Digital, helping produce their show Arts & Raps.[7]

In 2020, Holder began working as a publicity executive for Pusha T’s Heir Wave Music Group, the Virginia rapper's DMV-focused record label.[6][17][18]

In 2020, AfroTech named Holder one of their "10 Black Men Who Found Success Through Digital Platforms.[11]

Personal life[edit]

Quinelle is married to photographer Sabrina Vaz-Holder. They have a daughter named Zenith.[19]
