r/fuckcars is a subreddit centered around the discussion of "the harmful effects that car dominance has on community, environment, safety, and public health".[1] Subreddit members and subscribers often advocate for sustainable urban design with less car dependency via conversation around topics of improved pedestrian and mass transit infrastructure.[2] Other topics of discussion include cycling advocacy, civic engagement, digital cartography and mapping, racial and economic segregation (particularly in the United States), and political discourse regarding state and federal spending of taxpayer money. Discussion is augmented by frequent posting of activism-related resources and memes.

The subreddit featured prominently in the 2022 incarnation of Reddit's r/place project, with the construction of a large design promoting the community in the center of the final canvas.[3][4][5]
