The RDCWorld1 ("Real Dreams Change The World 1") is a YouTube channel consisting with 7 members who are extremely close friends,[1] with their own personalities and fantastic acting abilities. The group star together to create high quality and entertaining comedy videos. They are well known for creating skits and parodies or clichés relating to popular Anime or Manga. The group Roleplay as characters, not just from Anime but also Video games, cartoons, Superheroes, famous sport team members and characters that are relatable in a daily life, or anything that comes to mind while also having a black stereotype attitude in the group. They love to come up with ideas that will appeal and entertain their audience with their ridiculous and hilarious scenarios for their comedy skits. They don't only make comedy skits, they also have vlogs, long discussion debate videos, and Animations which they made back in their earlier days of their channel.[2][3] Due to their love for Video Games they would make their second channel called RDCWorldGaming in 9th July, 2017 where the group would come together and play Video Games to have fun.[4][5]

Mark Philips[edit]

Marcus "Mark" Vincent Phillips Jr. is the major founding member of RDCWorld1 and the face of the team. Mark is the one who came up with the name RDCWorld1 "Real Dreams Change the World". Mark came up with this name because he hopes to show that anyone can change the world starting with just a dream. Mark aspires to become a director, writer, and mangaka, which he already is the director, writer and the producer for the RDCWorld1 channel.[6] Mark was born in September 16, 1994 and is currently 27 years old. Mark had received 2.7 Million followers to his supremedreams_1 Instagram account. Marks favourite Anime is One Piece and enjoys watching movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marks favourite cartoon show is Avatar: The Last Airbender from Nickelodeon. The video game Modern Warfare 2 is Marks most favourite video game.[3]Mark attended University of North Texas, and graduated with a degree in integrative studies in May of 2017. In that same year Mark made headlines by collaborating with his friends and recreating photographs of album covers from Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, Drake’s Nothing Was The Same and Kendrick Lamar’s album DAMN to pay tribute to a few artists that inspired him to continue chasing his dreams.[7]

Affiong Harris[edit]

Affiong Harris is also the founding member of the start of the channel, Affiong provides the voice overs for Mark's videos and is considered to be the Director of production, post production, cinematographer of the group. He is usually the one in charge of visual effects. During the earlier stages of their channel, Affiong and Mark worked together at the start when they were making Manga, Vlogs, Animations, and Skits. Affiong aspires to be a prominent artist in the fields of Music, Animation, and Film. He is an important figure for the group behind-the-scenes to produce their videos.[8] Ready Player One is his favourite film. He was born on June 8, 1995 and is currently 26 years old. Affiong has his own YouTube channel called CleanUniform where he produces his own music. Affiong's favourite Video Game is UnderTale. His favourite Anime series called Nichijou.[3]

Leland Manigo[edit]

Leland Manigo was born on October 16, 1995 and is currently 26 years old. He is also a founding member of the channel, and the cousin of Mark Philips. He is extremely close to his cousin Mark and generally always appears during their skits.[3] He is the groups Brand, Design Manager and does their sourcing, fulfilment. Leland is a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, He dreams of one day working with SEGA and revive the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.[9] Leland's favourite musician is Drake. Same with Mark, he also enjoys watching movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His favourite anime is Yu Yu Hakusho.[3]

Desmond Johnson[edit]

Desmond Johnson was born in May 10, 1994 in Waco, Texas and is currently 27 years old. Desmond is best friends with Mark Philips and they both went to the same University University of North Texas. Desmond would then regularly collaborate in Mark's videos.[3] He would become one of the most prominent and recognisable member of the group along side Mark. Desmond is the Special Effects Coordinator and Drone Operator for the group. He loves playing sports, his favourite sport is Soccer and his favourite team is Manchester United, Desmond wants to one day open his own soccer complex.[10] Same as the rest of the group he is a huge fan of Video Games and Anime. Desmond's favourite Video Game is Master Chief from Halo franchise. An Anime called InuYasha is his favourite.[3]

Ben Skinner[edit]

Ben Skinner is the fifth member to join the group and he mostly operated as the Production Sound Mixer, Budget, Finance, Ad Sales, Costume, wardrobe supervisor for the group. Ben is the oldest of the group as well as the tallest, standing at 6’3”.[11] His favourite Video Game franchise is Kingdom Hearts and he enjoys watching movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ben wants to one day be a great Music Producer in the future. Kid Cudi is his favourite musician and is a fan of the Anime series Naruto.[3]

Dylan Patel[edit]

Dylan Patel is the gaming Director and Visual Effects Manager for the group, he was the 6th member to join. He first debuted in skit video called "Black Avengers" which had over 10 Million Views.[12] He was born on May 1, 1996 in Austin, Texas and is now currently 25 years old. Like the rest of the group, he is a huge fan of Anime, Video Games and enjoys listening to music. His most favourite musical artist is Nas. His favourite sport athlete is Lebron James, an Anime series called Hunter x Hunter is his favourite Anime. The group love to compete with each other in a Video Game called Super Smash Brothers, it is Dylan's most favourite Video Game series.[3]

Johnathan Newton[edit]

Johnathan Newton was the last member to join the group. Johnathan is a Dream Con Event Coordinator. Dream Con is a convention that the RDCWorld1 crew helped organise. Johnathan usually is the one who has a smaller role in their skit videos. He usually helps with the behind-the-scenes for the production of their videos, along with rest of the group.[13] Johnathan's favourite music artist was Tupac Shakur. He loves playing League of Legends, and his favourite Anime is Naruto.[3]

Channel[edit]

The group started the RDCWorld1 channel in the year 1st of March, 2012 and was originally was going to be created as a way to promote their Manga by making animations called "The Resistance" and uploading it onto YouTube, hoping it would gain traction. Mark's goal was to one day have his own Anime show, him and his friends tried to reach out to other companies, but they were constantly getting rejected. Over-time they lost interest and kept the project in the side-line. From there they would instead make comedy skit videos in order to build their name. Overtime they would start to gain traction.[citation needed] After the video skit called "When People Take Anime Too Far" reaching over 24 Million Views on YouTube.[citation needed] Over time they would constantly come up with ideas and references from watching Anime, Video Games and many things in general and make videos for their audience.

The RDCWorld1 Channel has over 5.71 Million Subscribers and their subscriber count continue to grow. Their channel has a net worth of $2.9 Million dollars as of March 2022.[14][15]

Dream Con[edit]

Dream Con is an anime and gaming convention that was brought to fruition by RDCWorld1. They dreamed of bringing together individuals to enjoy and celebrate multiple interests of many people that are into Pop culture, Anime, Comics, Art, Cosplay, Music, etc. There are interactive panels and concerts where people can meet up and even recognise other YouTubers.[16]
