Rachael Caroline Maurer (born November 1, 1994)[1] is an American news anchor and television personality. She is currently a news anchor for ABC affiliate, KEZI 9 News.[2][3]
Maurer previously ran track & field at California Lutheran University, she is a former Miss Los Angeles County Teen, Miss Los Angeles United States,[4] and was featured in LA Swim magazine. She also walked at the Los Angeles Fashion Week.
She became a signed model with T&R modeling agency in 2012.[5]
Early life and family[edit]
Maurer was born in Thousand Oaks, California, to Jeanine Maurer, and Jeffrey Maurer. She grew up in Thousand Oaks, California her whole life.[6]
Maurer’s childhood revolved around sports and she began running track at an early age. Maurer cited Melissa Stark and Suzy Kolber as female sportscasters she looked up to who ultimately inspired her to become a news and sportscaster herself.
Maurer attended Westlake High School in Westlake Village,[7] in Ventura County, California[8] where she was a member of the track & field team, choir and the National Honor Society. Maurer was also a personal assistant to the head coach of the football team. During high school, she was named Ventura County Volunteer of the year for her work with foster children in the area. Before graduating high school, she was also a Top 5 Miss California Finalist representing Los Angeles, California.
Following graduation from high school in 2012, Maurer attended California Lutheran University, graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communications. While in college, she was a scholar-athlete hurdler on the track and field team.
Endorsements and charitable work[edit]
Maurer has extensive experience in charity and has traveled over the world numerous times on different mission trips.
In 2014 and 2015, Maurer was a missionary member of the JAAC Medical Mission Trip where she traveled with a medical team to render care to rural community members, assisting with clinic registration, assisting physicians and nurses with pediatric clinics serving over 800 villagers.
In 2017, Maurer was a relief volunteer and traveled to the African country of Zambia with Adventist Health providing support to villagers by installing water pumps, delivery of milk cows, and serving over 1800 villagers through traveling clinics. Maurer also helped raising donations for cataract procedures, women's services and nutritional supplementation.[9]
Personal life[edit]
Maurer lives in Thousand Oaks, CA. In 2012, she won the Miss California ‘’Monster Charity’’ Award.
