Rafael Sanchez Agüero
Rafael Ramón Sanchez Agüero (5 May 1930 – 16 December 1995) was a military general between 1965-1969 and colonel of the national army of Venezuela. He was a main general during the fight against the FALN (Armed forces of National Liberation) guerrilla group in Venezuela during the 60s. He received many foreign ministers and leaders such as John F. Kennedy in his visit to Venezuela in December of 1961. Sanchez was sent on diplomatic missions to Cuba. He met with Fidel and Raul Castro in 1972 to talk about trade deals between the two nations.
Personal Life[edit]
Sanchez was born in Maracay, Aragua in 1930 and died in 1995. He was married to Herminia Salas de Sanchez, and had 8 children. Sanchez graduated from the Military School of Venezuela in 1950. He was later promoted Colonel of the Battalion of Caracas in 1957 and then promoted as General in 1965. Sanchez was good friends with President of Venezuela at the time, Raul Leoni.
