Rahhat Shah Kazmi (born July 23, 1980), previously known as Rahat Kazmi.[1] is an internationally acclaimed film director and writer known for his feature films LIHAAF[2] and MANTOSTAAN[3]. Rahhat has won various international awards[4] including the best director award at BAFTA by UK Asian Film festival in 2017 for MANTOSTAAN[5].
After having a significant theatrical release, most of his works are now streaming on various prominent OTT platforms.
Early life
Born in a Sufi family of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, Rahhat started making independent films at the age of 17 when he was studying in a Government operated school in Surankote Poonch. Later he moved to Mumbai to pursue his career in Bollywood[6].
Career
His upcoming film Country of Blind, which is based on H.G. Wells’s short story titled The Country of the Blind, is slated to release early next year.[7]
Personal Life
Rahhat is married to Asiya Kazmi since 2007 [12] and has two children, a son Amir Kazmi and a daughter Selsabil Kazmi.
