History[edit]

REM’s history dates to 1972 with the founding of a firm called Mason Raich & Company. At that time, the firm consisted of only three accountants, Charles Raich,[11] Alex Mason, and Joel Mason. By 1984, the firm consisted of over 75 professionals because of a merger with Fine & Gruber.

Raich Ende Malter & Co. LLP, as it is known today, was officially formed in 1990. From that point on, the firm grew considerably. Several acquisitions and mergers occurred over the next two decades, the largest in 2005 with the acquisition of a significant portion of Weinick & Sanders.

Subsequent firm growth is attributable to both internal development and mergers.

Community service[edit]

The company is a major donor to several New York metropolitan area charitable foundations, including The Green Chimneys School, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Friends of Hebrew University.

REM’s community service also includes employee participation in social and environmental volunteer efforts through REM-Co Cares. Past volunteer efforts include MillionTreesNYC[12] and Operation Candy Cane.
