Railway Assets Corporation (Malay: Perbadanan Aset Keretapi. abbreviated as RAC) is a Malaysian state-owned company and a corporate body established under the Railways Act 199. RAC is fully owned by the Ministry of Transport.[1]

It was set up to be the property and asset owner of the railway land under the Federal Land Commissioner, after the KTM was dissolved, while the railway service operations were taken over by the new corporatised company, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).

The company was established on 1 August 1992. Railway Assets Corporation is responsible for developing and redeveloping railway infrastructure in Malaysia, in order to allow the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad to focus on the operation and service of the railway. RAC also secures financing for this infrastructure development through rental, leasing and government allocations. Additionally, RAC manages all assets, rights, and liabilities of the KTM administration before August 1, 1992, so that the KTMB is free from any non-operational costs and burdensome debts.[2]

Development on railway lands[3][edit]

RAC has implemented several initiatives using its internally generated funds. These initiatives include the building and preparation of communication rooms at Template:Kstn station and Template:Kstn Komuter station, which involved the relocation of existing systems and equipment to install the passenger information system and closed-circuit television cameras.

RAC has also undertaken several projects to strengthen and upgrade railway tracks and bridges. These projects include the Gemas-Johor Baharu Electrified Double Tracking Project, East Coast Sector Railway Tracks Strengthening Project, Klang Valley Sector Railway Tracks Strengthening Project, and the Railway Bridges Strengthening Project.

RAC has also invested in the development and construction of new railway stations, such as in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, and the Railway Maintenance Depot in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, and Kempas, Johor. The corporation has also undertaken significant projects such as the construction of railway tracks from Subang Komuter Station to the Subang Sky Park Terminal and railway bridge crossing projects at Kajang railway station and Template:Kstn Railway Station in Selangor. RAC also has embarked on projects to improve accessibility for disabled individuals. For instance, the corporation has undertaken a project at Tanjung Malim Railway Station in Perak to facilitate the mobility of disabled persons.

Regional Offices[edit]

RAC has recently announced the establishment of three Regional Affairs Offices in 2013. The offices, located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang (Northern Zone), Pulau Sebang, Melaka (Southern Zone), and Gua Musang, Kelantan (East Coast Zone), have commenced operations and each of the offices will be led by a regional manager, supported by a team of officers and staff, with the aim of improving the level of service provided to stakeholders and customers. Specifically, these offices will cater to railway asset management, railway land administration, and facility maintenance.[4]
