Rajashree R (born 1972) is the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Tata Consultancy Services., a global IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization. She took up the CMO role on February 1, 2020 , before which she led the Retail Practice at TCS for 16 years , engaging with leading global retailers and driving their transformation and innovation programs.

Education

Rajashree R obtained a PGDM in Marketing from IRMA, Gujarat.

Career

Before her stint with TCS, Rajashree learned the ropes of brand management and product marketing as an assistant product manager/assistant brand manager at Beauty Cosmetics . She played a key role in launching Fairever and the perfume brand Spinz . Rajashree then joined Health & Glow, a beauty and wellness retail chain, as Head of Marketing .

Rajashree led the Retail Solutions Group for over 16 years, where she built retail as a vertical for the organization. She believes this is where she learned technology and AI and even got patents in AI .

Rajashree is also the co-inventor (with a patent in her name) of a system that helps identify various products on the shelves at a retail store to facilitate compliance with respect to planograms . The system provides an expected arrangement of products on the shelves, identifying if the product is placed in an appropriate location .

Since taking on the role of CMO at TCS weeks before the global shutdown due to the pandemic, Rajashree has played a key role in helping the organization navigate the extraordinarily challenging times. Under her leadership, TCS' brand value grew by $1.4 billion in 2021. The organization was ranked among the Top 3 most valuable brands in the IT Services sector globally as per the Brand Finance 2021 report . In 2022, Brand Finance named TCS as the second most valuable brand in the IT services sector globally .

In 2021, TCS underwent a brand revamp and changed the tagline from "Experience Certainty" to "Building on Belief," which Rajashree believes is "an evolution."

Personal Life

Born in 1972, Rajashree grew up in numerous cities. She is an admirer of Irish singer-songwriter, activist, and philanthropist Bono and American singer, songwriter, and musician Bruce Springsteen . She enjoys listening to and watching music videos and also admires singer O S Arun, whose concerts she often attends .

She lives in Chennai with her husband and son .

In 2021, Rajashree R won the Most Promising Tech Marketeers Award for Best Corporate Narrative/Storytelling.
