Ralph Sutton (born Dec 31, 1969) is an American radio and event host, podcaster and writer and co-owner of the GaS Digital Network. He is best known for his syndicated rock radio show, The Tour Bus, and his comedy podcast, The SDR Show, with comedian Big Jay Oakerson.[1][2][3]
Life and career[edit]
Sutton was born in Brooklyn and was raised in Manhattan, During college Sutton and four friends founded night club promotion company called Monkey Business Crew. Which led to him running nightclubs such as Limelight, Palladium and Lamour. Sutton was a strip club DJ for 10 years, eventually started working in radio. Starting at WNNJ in Sussex, New Jersey in 1998.[4]
The Tour Bus[edit]
The first episode of The Tour Bus was in January 1999. Despite having no radio experience, Sutton pitched The Tour Bus to a radio producer at WNNJ in Sussex, New Jersey. The show was one of the first radio shows to play exclusively 1980s rock, including Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Def Leppard. In the early 2000s Sutton and then co-host Matt Murray began syndicating the show on ten stations. Sutton's second co-host was Stacy X after that Melissa Krahnke Co-hosted the show until it's end.[5] In 2001 released a best of in-studio performances on Pulse records.[6] The Tour Bus was on over 50 stations across the United States until March 2018.[7]
The SDR Show[edit]
The SDR show launched in June 2014 hosted by comedian Big Jay Oakerson and Sutton. On the show, Big Jay Oakerson and Sutton have interviewed rock stars, porn stars, comedians and more, including Gene Simmons, Jennifer Esposito and the Impractical Jokers.[8][9][10] The SDR show was a part of All Things Comedy before Sutton started his own network GaS Digital in 2016.
GaS Digital Network[edit]
GaS Digital Network Started in 2014. GaS Digital Network has shows featuring Michael Bisping the former UFC Middleweight Champion,[11] Dee Snider (lead singer of Twisted Sister),[12] and Jamey Jasta (lead singer of Hatebreed).[13]
Hosting and other appearance[edit]
Sutton is well known as a host for rock events and TV shows. He has hosted Shiprocked and Motörhead's Motörboat Cruise since they both began.[14][15] In 2004 Sutton was featured on Bravo TV's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and the M3 Rock festival in MD.[16] Sutton was also a VJ for VH-1 Classic in 2005.[17][18]
