Ram Bilas Pachori
Ram Bilas Pachori (born 1979), a Fellow of the IEEE [1] [2], is a Professor (HAG) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India[3] [4]. He was Visiting Professor in Freie Universität Berlin under the DAAD Bilateral Exchange of Academics during July-September, 2022. His research interests include signal processing, image processing, biomedical signal processing, non-stationary signal processing, speech signal processing, brain-computer interfaces, machine learning, and artificial intelligence and Internet of things in healthcare[5][6].
He was an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering (2021-2024)[7]. Currently, he is an Associate Editor of Electronics Letters[8], IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology[9], Computers and Electrical Engineering[10], and Biomedical Signal Processing and Control[11]. He is also serving as a Handling Editor of Signal Processing[12] and an Editor of IETE Technical Review journal[13].
Career
He has authored a total of 359 publications, comprising 223 journal articles, 95 conference papers, 11 books, and 30 book chapters[14]. He holds eight patents, which include two granted patents (one in Australia and other in India) and six published patents in India[15]. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers[1], Institution of Engineering and Technology[16] [17] , Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers[18] [19], and the Institution of Engineers[20]. He has got IETE - Prof SVC Aiya Memorial Award in the year 2021[21]. He has been elevated to IEEE Fellow for contributions to application of signal decomposition methods to biomedical engineering and is one of the 56 IEEE Signal Processing Society members elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2025[22].
Pachori pioneered the development of the relation between frequency domain and order of the Fourier-Bessel series expansion (FBSE) coefficients[23]. This also has led to applicability of the FBSE for analyzing nonstationary signals [24] [25]. Further, using the concept of FBSE, his seminal work successfully implemented cross-term reduction technique in Wigner-Ville distribution for the first time in literature[26] . He has also extended the FBSE based methods for the analysis and processing of biomedical images[27] [28] [29] . He has also proposed multiresolution analysis tools based on FBSE for biomedical signals and images[30] [31] .
According to Google Scholar[32] , Web of Science[33] , and Scopus[34] , his research work has been cited 18195, 11370 , and 14530 times, respectively.
