Ramak Radmard (born 21 March 1972) is a Canadian industrial designer and entrepreneur, best known for founding Lucidream Design and creating a variety of notable consumer products and furniture. His designs emphasize a balance between engineering and aesthetics, focusing on innovation without compromising usability. He is recognized internationally for contributions to sustainable and functional design.

Early life and education

Radmard was born in Tehran, Iran, and later immigrated to Canada. He studied Industrial Design and Architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa during the early 1990s. After graduation, he worked at Rolls-Royce Canada from 1998 to 2002 as a development engineer.

Career

Lucidream Design

In 1999, Radmard founded Lucidream Design in Montreal. The studio began with custom furniture and sculptural pieces before expanding into product design, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

One of his earliest and most acclaimed works was the Exhale Lounge Chair, first introduced in 2003. The bentwood and aluminum structure, combined with a leather rest system, received attention for its ergonomic form and clean aesthetic."Exhale Chair by Ramak Radmard". DesignBuzz. 6 December 2007. In 2007, he designed the Interfaces Eyewear system—a modular, frameless eyewear platform presented at SILMO Paris 2008.

FT/Sight savers Challenge Mentor was patented and later adopted by vision NGOs for low-cost global eyewear solutions.

In 2015, Radmard launched the eXo Skeleton iPhone Case via Kickstarter. It featured a shock-absorbing spring-loaded metal frame and modular mounting system. The case was recognized as a finalist in the 2017 IDEA awards."Lucidream EXO Case IDEA Finalist". IDSA. Retrieved 2025-04-06.

Rolls Royce

Played a pivotal role in adapting the Aero Trent, designed for Jet Aircraft, to operate as an industrial gas turbine, developing and standardizing the Industrial Trent, delivering one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly gas turbine engines.

Nortel

Responsible for the conceptual design and development of a Remote Audio and 3D Video Communication Systems - similar to present day facetime and smartphone technology but in 3D, designed in 1994.
