Ramayana Express

The Ramayana Express is a series of express passenger train services in India proposed to be operated by Indian Railways taking pilgrims to locations associated with Rama.[1][2][3]

The train is likely to be launched after March 10, 2020. The trains will be Ramayana-themed with bhajans playing inside. The itinerary and fares of this new service have not been announced as of now.[4][5][6]

History[edit]

A special train named Shri Ramayana Express was flagged off on November 14, 2018.[7][8] The Ramayana Express had an overall capacity of 800 passengers and the tickets were priced at INR 15,120 per person. It was also supposed to have a Sri Lanka section to it. [9]

This Ramayana Express ran from Indore in Madhya Pradesh via Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh starting from November 18, 2019.[10] The boarding stations were going to be Indore, Dewas, Ujjain, Maksi, Shujalpur, Sehore, Bairagarh (Bhopal), Vidisha, Ganj Basoda, Bina, Lalitpur and Jhansi and deboarding stations were going to be Nagpur, Itarsi, Hoshangabad, Bairagarh (Bhopal), Sehore, Shujalpur, Maksi, Ujjain, Dewas and Indore. [11] The price for this 14 nights and 15 days trip was set at INR 17,325 (3 AC Class) and INR 14,175 (Sleeper class). [11][12]
