Ramyug is an Indian Hindi-language mythological web series based on ancient Indian Sanskrit epic of the same name. The show is directed by Kunal Kohli for MX Player and stars Diganth, Akshay Dogra, Aishwarya Ojha, Vivan Bhatena and Kabir Duhan Singh in lead roles.
Plot[edit]
The storyline begins with Ram, Prince of Ayodhya, going to Sita Swayamwar to win the hand of princess Sita. Later, Dashrath, king of Ayodhya, declares Ram to be sworn as crown prince. But, queen Kaikeyi gets mind-wiped by Manthara and plots against Ram and gets him exiled for 14 years. Lakshman and Sita accompany him to the forests, where Sita gets abducted by Rawan. Ram, in serach of Sita, meets Hanuman, who helps gather an army of monkeys and bears. Together, they reach Lanka where a war is fought between Ram's and Rawan's armies. Rawan and his accomplices get killed in the war. Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman reach Ayodhya where Ram is crowned as the king and finally 'Ram-rajya' becomes a reality where everyone is happy and healthy.
Digital interpretations of Ramayana[edit]
There are multiple visuals interpretations of the ancient text including Ramayan (1987) and Ramayan (2008), while some are spin-offs like Siya Ke Ram. Ramyug tries to bring a more modern way, with the use of technology, to narrate the epic.
